For my birthday this year (the day after Christmas), John got me a bike! Its a turquoise cruiser and it is absolutely perfect for me. One of my favorite things growing up was riding bikes at the beach during our family vacations and around the neighborhood where I grew up. This past summer when we were at the beach John and I had such fun biking to and from the beach and all around Seaside and Watercolor and I can’t remember if I actually told him it would be fun to do it at home or if he could just tell. Either way, Johnny for the win.
This year for Christmas, my husband (aka Mr. TCP) got me this fabulous Rebecca Minkoff backpack. I have been wanting a backpack since they were on the cusp of being trendy and Johnny really pulled through with the perfect one. I showed him this one as an example and was overjoyed on Christmas morning to find it under the tree.
However, I have become so accustomed to styling my crossbody and tote bags, so when I went to use this one with an outfit, it was a little awkward at first to say the least. Do I put it on? Do I hold the top loop? Cath, what do I do with this!? After trying any and all possibilities I found that for photos, over one shoulder is definitely the way to go. Wearing it practically on my back is perfect for gallivanting around Richmond and on the streets of New York, but it just did not work in photos. So in case you have been struggling with a similar issue, there it is.
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite backpacks for youuuuu below!
Well folks, here we are in 2017 and I am going to write a little bit about my goals, as cliche as it it may be. 2016 was an amazing year- John and I bought a house, my sister and Catherine both got engaged, I started helping my mom out with her Turkish Towel biz, and of course the blog has continued to flourish (thank you all for your help with that!) That being said, it was a veryyyyy busy year and things were so overwhelming at times that it was tempting to just shut down completely. My goal for 2017 is to avoid said meltdown moments.
If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know that The Homestead is my most favorite place. (If you are a new TCP follower, I got married there a year and a half ago and have been vacationing there for most of my life). Last year when John and I went in December we recognized how absolutely magical it can be at Christmastime and lucky for us we were able to convince my parents to spend the holiday itself there this year.
I don’t have to tell you guys that holiday time can be a crazy time. Between shopping, working and this year planning Catherine’s upcoming wedding, it’s rare that we have the chance to spend the afternoon shooting photos. Oh, and the fact that it gets dark before 5pm doesn’t help either. So when we got dressed up for a holiday outing and it was 25 degrees out but we had a mere 15 minutes to spare, we had to take advantage of the opportunity. (more…)
Every season I tend to become obsessed with a certain trend, piece, bag, lipstick etc etc – I could go on and on. This winter, I can’t stop wearing knee socks. Here, I decided to wear them with a go-to sweater dress but I’ve been wearing them over tights, over my favorite Athleta Leggings and with my favorite nightshirts around the house. I’m not exactly sure how the obsession came about but all of a sudden my husband was all “do you have enough knee socks?” My honest answer was: definitely not. The ones I’m wearing with this outfit actually came with my recent Fabletics subscription but I have to say that I have grown particularly fond of these Hue ones. I have them in three colors! They are seriously perfect for cozy-ing up on the couch with coffee before I get my day started.
What’s your winter obsession this year?
