For my birthday this year (the day after Christmas), John got me a bike! Its a turquoise cruiser and it is absolutely perfect for me. One of my favorite things growing up was riding bikes at the beach during our family vacations and around the neighborhood where I grew up. This past summer when we were at the beach John and I had such fun biking to and from the beach and all around Seaside and Watercolor and I can’t remember if I actually told him it would be fun to do it at home or if he could just tell. Either way, Johnny for the win.
I’m sitting here, staring at my screen, waiting for inspiration to strike me, and I’m thinking ‘well, I’ll just write about how to get inspired to write a blog post.’ Very meta huh? Is that what meta is? I’ve never really understood the whole meta thing. Butttt I digress. In all honesty, I don’t think that I could tell you anything helpful about how to get inspired to write a blog post. I am always telling Catherine that she is so good at writing mindful, inspired posts and I’m always over here like HEY HOW COOL IS THIS DRESS? (more…)
Packing for Fashion Week is always SUCH a struggle. (Yes, I know this is a seriously cliche fashion blogger statement, but just bear with me).
This season, I knew I had to have some sort of strategy so as to not go totally insane during the process. To make matters worse, I just moved into our new house this summer and my clothes are EVERYWHERE; downstairs closets, upstairs closets, the attic, my car and yes, even at Catherine’s house. It’s always tempting to pack all of your ‘HEY LOOK AT ME’ pieces when heading to New York so as to capture the eyes (lenses) of the Street Style photogs and in our instance, yes, Cath and I would like to think of ourselves as the next Caroline Vreeland and Shea Marie.(more…)
*As seen on The Crystal PressI am so so very ready for it to truly be Spring in Virginia! Coming off our Guatemala trip I was ready for the heat. Much to my dismay, this weekend was made up of 50 degree temps with the sun making the occasional appearance. I have to admit I was disappointed, but not entirely so. I love any opportunity to wear a comfy sweater and Catherine can attest to the fact that I am always trying to make them fashionable, but rarely find success in doing so. Needless to say, when we were picking out our Sunday threads to head to our friend’s studio opening, I was finally able to make this old Theory sweater happen!
I could go on for days about the comfort of this outfit but I should tell you about this awesome skirt. Zero Degrees Celsius is a newly launched brand focused on traditional femininity with a distinguished flare and we are excited to help promote their launch! Alrighty friends, time for me to share my first experience with culottes with you. I have to admit I was wary to try this Iris & Ink pair at the Shopstyle Social House on our second day in New York, but per usual, Catherine convinced me plus it was NYFW so I was feeling a little more bold than usual. I immediately fell in love with them. They were the perfect addition to my Fashion Week wardrobe and because of the absolutely frigid temperatures, tights underneath were necessary as was this crucial faux fur coat. This definitely won’t be the only time you see it! This also won’t be the last time you see this amazing Givenchy bag. Thanks to Bag, Borrow or Steal for making sure we hit The Big Apple in Style!
Back to the culottes – Catherine is a self-proclaimed culotte lover and had a black pair with her so naturally we tried out our first matchy-matchy looks for Monique Lhullier. I have to admit, it was so much fun and just one thing that I love about being a blogging duo! I haven’t had that much fun matching since my mother used to dress my sister and I as children. Stay tuned for her black & white culotte look, coming soon.
In Cath’s last post on The Crystal Press she introduced you to Lola Pepper Boutique in Richmond and accurately described how perfect this shop was for us. And by perfect I don’t just mean the clothes, the leather cuffs and the handmade necklaces but just the whole *vibe* of the shop that Jillian has created. Like Cath said, because of how perfectly she has curated the goods, you won’t walk out empty-handed. As a matter of fact, I scooped a piece to wear on my wedding day.
When Jillian first showed me this Skemo piece, I knew it was love at first sight. It is totally designed to be a dress but as we’ve seen in my past outfits, I like to try to pull off the dress-over-jeans style and this edgy-boho number was right up my alley.
These are definitely some of our favorite photos to date! After brunching in the Lower East Side (see part 1 of The Crystal Press travel post for deets), Catherine and I wandered around and found these amazing iron church gates and had to seize the moment! I found this great top the day before, shopping on 5th ave at Zara and decided to go for the cream-on-white-on-snow look for our Sunday Funday in the city.
